Tandy Shuck is the Executive Director for Leadership Johnson County, a program designed to integrate leadership training and community skills for citizens of Johnson County.
After graduating from Hanover College and receiving her advanced degree in Clinical Psychology from Connecticut College, Tandy finished a one-year internship at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic at the University of Pittsburgh. Desiring to return to her home state, Tandy came to Franklin College in 1993 as the Assistant Director of Counseling. Through the evolving duties assigned to Tandy in her role in the counseling center and as an adjunct faculty member in the Psychology department, she became more intrigued by the leadership education that was occurring on the campus. Tandy began teaching a leadership class for a group of student leaders in 1996 and helped develop the campus's First Year Experience Program. Wanting to further her own leadership development, Tandy completed the Leadership Johnson County program in 2001. Desiring to focus on the aspect of her career that she had become most passionate about, Tandy made the move to the Leadership Department in August of 2001 where she enjoys facilitating and empowering others in their quest for leadership training.
Tandy has presented papers at the First-Year Experience National Conference on topics relating to student leadership on college campuses. She has facilitated workshops on teambuilding, collaboration, time-management, mentoring, and many other topics relating to leadership and psychology.
Being committed to community involvement, Tandy is also actively involved in Johnson and Marion County activities. Tandy is past president of Franklin's Zeta Chapter of Tri-Kappa. Tandy has served on the Steering Committee for the Big Sisters of Johnson County, in addition to being a big sister for three-years. Tandy has volunteered for numerous organizations in Johnson County, including the Johnson County Community Foundation Scholarship Committee. She is founder and past-president of the Dress for Success® Indianapolis Board of Directors in Marion County. Tandy received recognition at the 1999 Dress for Success Worldwide conference for her contributions to the start-up sister location in Indianapolis. Tandy was also selected in 2002 to participate in the OPTIONS program, sponsored by the Women's Fund of Central Indiana, for philanthropic female leaders in Central Indiana.
Tandy lives in Greenwood, Indiana with her husband and three children.
