Dr. Airey received her BS from Purdue University and a MA, MAE, and EdD from Ball State University. Prior to teaching at the college level, Dr. Airey taught middle school science and coached volleyball and basketball. She also spent one year teaching school in Pembroke Dock, Dyfed, UK. Previous to coming to FC, Dr. Airey taught at Centre College in Danville, KY, and Ripon College in Ripon, WI. During the 2006-07 school year, Dr. Airey received a year's leave from FC and taught 6th grade English at Sheng-li Elementary School in Tainan City, Taiwan, through an Indiana Department of Education/Taiwan Ministry of Education partnership. The following January Winter term, she returned to Sheng-li Elementary with six students who taught English for the month.

Dr. Airey teaches a variety of courses at FC. Her expertise is science education and Dr. Airey teaches both the secondary and elementary methods of science. Additionally, she teaches a class in which the senior students design an integrated unit which showcases the many theories and applications learned over the previous 3 1/2 years of teacher preparation.

Dr. Airey has been very fortunate to travel in many parts of the world. Her travels have taken her to Brazil, Greece, Canada, Greenland, Iceland, China, Taiwan, Indonesia as well as other places. She feels that it is of great importance to travel throughout the world to meet our world neighbors while developing an understanding and appreciation of differences.
