Dan Callon serves as a professor of mathematics and coordinator of the Liberal Arts program. During his tenure he has focused on the design and integration of the mathematics curriculum and co-curriculum, incorporation of active learning principles including technology in the mathematics classroom, professional development for mathematics students, and assessment of the mathematics program. In recent years he has been involved in mentoring programs for junior mathematics faculty both statewide and nationally.
Dan is a 1977 graduate of Franklin College and earned his master's degree at Indiana University and his Ph. D. from the University of Cincinnati in numerical analysis. He was a tenured faculty member at Miami University in Ohio before returning to his alma mater in 1987. He was honored with the Distinguished Service Award from the Indiana Section of the Mathematical Association of America in 2005.
Dan and his wife Debbie have two children, Emily and Nathan. They are active at Greenwood Christian Church and enjoy traveling, music, reading, and sports. His mother, Ruth Callon, is professor of physical education and mathematics emerita at FC.
