Dr. Beasley received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Illinois State University, and later he earned a doctorate from the University of Illinois. He draws upon previous career experience in the computing field to make classroom learning relevant and to share real-world examples with his students. He has delivered three keynote addresses at international conferences in Taiwan and has also presented and published research articles widely.

He and his four sons are members of the 4th Normal Form Band (www.4nfband.com). He also referees youth soccer and is active in his local church.
