Jay Moseley is Franklin College's 15th president. Prior to joining the college on July 1, 2002, he was vice president and dean of the college and a professor of religion at Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky. He previously served in faculty and administrative positions at New College of the University of South Florida from 1973 to 1986 and at Chapman College in Orange, Calif., from 1986 to 1991.

Moseley holds a doctorate and master's degree from the University of Chicago Divinity School. His bachelor's degree is from Stanford University. He is the author of three books and numerous scholarly articles about religion in American life and culture.

Moseley believes that undergraduate liberal arts education prepares young men and women for productive lives of excellence, leadership and service in a diverse and changing world. Along with his work at Franklin College, he serves on the President's Council of the NCAA's Division III and on the boards of several educational, cultural, and civic organizations.

He is an avid reader, a dedicated runner and a lover of music.
