Originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, Gary Long received his Bachelors of Science degree in Sports Coaching from the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff. He then completed his Masters Degree in Exercise Science and played soccer at the University of Dayton, OH.

In addition to his position within the International Studies department, Long also be teaches Physical Education and acts as Assistant Coach for the Men's Soccer Program. His interests include reading, cycling and cooking for his wife.
