International Studies Program in Salzburg

Franklin College students can study at Alderson-Broaddus College's resident international studies center in Salzburg, Austria. Designed for students in any program of study, the Austrian program blends a minimum of 12 hours of liberal arts class work with travel and experiential educational opportunities. Students are required to take three courses: European History and Culture, Contemporary European Issues, and Conversational German. The first two courses are taught in English. Students reside at Haus Wartenberg, a hotel located in a residential neighborhood.

Before departing for Europe, students must attend a two-day orientation on the Alderson-Broaddus campus in Philippi, West Virginia. Students then spend their first ten days abroad in London, England before moving on to Austria. Participants are given ample time and opportunity to travel, and their fees include a two-month unlimited Eurail Pass. This program is offered during the fall semester only.
