If you have specific questions, please contact Consul Adam Witham at awitham@franklincollege.edu or Recruitment Chairman Jack Messer at jmesser@franklincollege.edu.

What is Rush?

Rush, also known as recruitment, is the way in which the Fraternity gets to know you and you get to know each fraternity. During formal recruitment, each house on campus plans various activities to meet new people and try to recruit new members. On the first night of recruitment you will be put in a group, and you will visit each house for a short presentation about each fraternity. For the rest of the week, you may choose which nights to attend events and which houses to attend. At the end of the week, each fraternity will hand out bids to men who they would like to have in their fraternity. There is not only one but two times to rush a fraternity. One is held in the fall and is more of a formal recruitment. The other is held in the spring and is more informal.

FAQ?

Why should I rush?
Rush is a great way to meet new people, both upperclassmen in the Fraternity and also those rushing with you. Also, rush exposes you to the Fraternity, so you can decide if Greek life is for you and which Fraternity you would like to join.

How much does rush cost?
Recruitment is absolutely free to potential new members. The cost of each event is covered by the Fraternity.

What events go on during recruitment?
Each fraternity chooses different events to host. You should choose events that sounds fun and choose to visit the fraternity that you think you would want to be a part of. Some of the events that Epsilon does are; Ultimate Frisbee, Dodgeball, Dinner with a sorority, Cook-out with all rushees and KDR's, and Crackers Comedy Club.

What is a bid?
A bid is a formal invitation to join the Fraternity and become a Brother. To accept your bid, you should come to the house whose bid you would like to accept on Preferencing Night. All fraternities will then walk to the Chapel where you will officially sign your bid.

If I go through recruitment, do I have to join?
There is no commitment involved for going through rush. At the end of the week, you may or may not decide that Greek life is for you. You do not have to decide to join right after recruitment – each fraternity has its own guidelines for how long a bid is good for.
