Side Trip to Los Roques

On our trip to Los Roques, we traveled in a six-passenger plane.  This is Kalow riding shotgun.

When we arrived we were greeted very nicely.  This here is our tour guide showing us a map of the area.

After we arrived at Los Roques, the beach was beautiful.  The water was crystal clear and the weather was perfect.  The weather never changed.  It was always 85 and sunny throughout the week.  This is a picture of us five students after we arrived at the beach.

During the middle of the day we were picked up and taken to a place to snorkel.  There were many exotic fish around the coral reef.  No more than ten people were allowed at this coral reef at once in order to help preserve the reef.  Here the guys are getting ready to go in.
The actual town of Los Roques was very unusual.  Here is a house in the town.  Many of the houses did not even have roofs over them.  They were just open to the outside.  They were surprisingly very nice and clean inside though.
By the end of our day at Los Roques we were all very tired.  It was a long day of fun and relaxation.  Here Neil, Hillary, and I are relaxing in the water.
Here we are in front of our plane before we leave the island.  The plane ride took us about twenty minutes to get back to the mainland.
