Winter Term
in
Norway and Sweden

On January 10, 2002, a group of 3 students, a student's mother, and myself embarked on a fun and insightful journey to Norway and Sweden.

We barely knew each other at the beginning and, as one student said at the end of the trip,
"I feel like we are all family".

We spent 4 days in the Norwegian capital of Oslo where we walked a lot (or, as the students would say, we walked A LOT), visited museums, ate great food, and hit the salgs (sales). Our adventure then took us to Kongsberg and Bø where we visited Telemark University College and made new friends. We then traveled by train to Stockholm, Sweden, where we continued our adventures, our walks, our visits to cultural sights, and, of course, our enjoyment of reas (sales).

The "main drag" in Oslo, Karl Johans Gata
(or, as some - who shall remain nameless - say, Karl Jhohanee).

A view from the bridge heading into Gamla Stan, the Old Town located on Staden, one of Stockholm's 14 islands.

One-third of the area inside the city limits of Stockholm is made up of water!

This was all of our first time in Scandinavia and I found it to be an extremely rewarding experience.
I want to thank my wonderful (and crazy!) group of fellow travelers.

I would especially like to thank the excellent students who accompanied me, Julie, Jessica, and Sarah.

 Until next time! Simone Pilon
