Franklin College 2004 Winterterm Class in Tropical  Biology

Franklin College is on a semester system with a 4 week Winterterm  in January between Fall and Spring Semesters.  The class, Tropical Biology was offered in 2004 as an introduction to tropical biology with an emphasis on marine biology.  23 students participated and the trip was led by Drs. Bill Pohley and Sara Colburn-Alsop.  Those interested can view a class syllabus with itinerary.  We would like to thank Dr. Ken and Maureen Mattes of  Belize Marine TREC for there expertise in arranging the trip.  On the mainland Albert of Cayo Adventure Tours was gratious, informative, and helpful while serving as our guide and driver.  Chena and the staff at Clarissa Falls provided excellent food and our lodging.  On Ambergris Caye, Ken and Maureen Mattes and their staff provided lodging, good food, and support throughout our stay.  To all the people  of Belize, we enjoyed our short time in your beautiful and diverse country.

Finally we would like to thank the students participating in this adventure for their hard work, good judgement, and responsibility shown throught the course, but particularly on the trip to Belize.  We were proud of the respect they showed to each other and everyone we met on our adventure.  We were impressed by the high level of responsibility displayed while on the trip.  They are fine representatives of Franklin College and it was our pleasure to enjoy the experience with them.
We hope you enjoy the pages below, designed and constructed by the students.
Feel free to contact us if you have questions or comments.  Bill Pohley (wpohley@franklincollege.edu), Sara Colburn-Alsop (scolburnalsop@franklincollege.edu).
