…which basically translates to “really marvelously freaking cool,” is the only way we know how
to describe the three weeks we spent in Guadalajara. In just 21 days, we explored the city,                                          celebrated 5 birthdays (with LOTS of cake), and learned some serious survival skills for our                                              daily bus trips. Coming back to the U.S., we found ourselves still using the colloquial
Spanish phrases we learned and came to love. From the 100s of pictures taken,
below are some of the our favorite moments we captured on film.

Jodi Rodriguez, Noelle Steele, Katy Sheehan
Ole!: Three weeks of dance lessons paid off when we got to perform at the trip’s final                                                fiesta. In our traditional Mexican dresses, we could almost blend in (ok, maybe not quite).

                            Dancin' the Night Away...

Vamos a Bailar (above): Every week, we attended traditional Mexican dance classes. Occasionally, we were able to convince Marcella and Guty to show us how it’s really done.
Now that’s a Dancer (right): Katy received this photo as a birthday gift from our teaching coordinator, Marcela Ruiz. Marcela danced professionally for 16 years.

                            Home, Sweet Home...

Mordita, Mordita (above): One Mexican birthday tradition we learned in Guadalajara is that the birthday girl always takes the first bite, which (with the help of a friend) is usually a BIG one. Both Katy and Jodi celebrated their 21st birthdays in January.
Peace on Earth (right): Luis Valdivia was our dad for three weeks. He had a great a sense of humor and a green thumb (as if you couldn’t tell).

                           Good for the 'Sol'

Three Beach Babes: After two long and hard weeks, we took a mini-vacation to the beautiful                                            beaches of nearby Puerto Vallarta. Playing in the waves at night was a favorite pastime.
