¡Fuga!
(Our Mamá's excited version of "Let's Go!!")

Guadalajara, Mexico
January 6th - 27th
Winter Term 2007

Mi Casa Es Su Casa...
This was the message we definitely received from our Mexican family the moment we stepped off of the plane and met them in the airport.  Our family consisted of Mamá, Papá, Zairah, and Daniel (even though he was linving in Canada at the time.)
We became really close with Mamá, as she was also very outgoing, and by the end of the trip were known as "Las Tres Mosqueteras."  We would go everywhere together, including the Super, the mall, and neighborhood parties.
Papá was definitely the opposite of Mamá and very quiet.  HOWEVER....the three of us definitely connected over sports.  For example, we all cheered the Colts on to their AFC Championship victory!!  Woo! go Colts!!
¿Clases o Boliches?
In Guadalajara, you never have to choose!!  Everyday we had clases where we were paired up with young, Mexican maestros who just wanted to have a good time.  Some of our clases included trips to the zoo, a bowling alley, several restaurants, and, POR SUPUESTO, shopping.  This trip never felt like a class because we were always having fun, but we definitely learned more from this experience than we have in any classroom.
El Camión...
This was the name of our very own telenovela.  Everyday we rode this bus to the center of the city and, along the way, met a LOT of interesting characters.  Such as...(insert deep voice)...Mochila Verde...Hombre de Boletas...Parada Por Nada...Tie...Wilson..and, last but not least, Sombre Hombre.
It was some high quality drama/entertainment.

¡Bailamos!
Every week we had dance classes where we would learn the tradicional dances of different Mexican states.  HOWEVER, we took our lessons to the next level.  Every week we would show off our skills at the local discos in Guadalajara.  We never failed to find great dance partners and have an AMAZING time learning even more about the dancing culture in Mexico.
¡Qué Padre!
For me, this experience was one that I had looked forward to for two years and, when it finally arrived, definitely exceeded all of my expectations.  I love that I truly got to know the Mexican people and, for three weeks, was able to experience their culture the exact same way that they do.  I made memories that I know will last a lifetime, learned lessons that will help me whenever I may need them, and, most importantly, met people that I will be able to call my friends forever.  I can only describre this experience with the above phrase "Qué Padre," but even that just scratches the surface. =)

¡La Vida Loca!
I had an amazing time in Mexico, but my favorite part was definitely the people.  I made so many new friends that I hope to keep forever.  I know this experience is something I will remember for the rest of my life and I hope that someday I can go back to my "home away from home" in Guadalajara, Mexico.

OK.  Thank You.  Bye.
