The Maurice and Rose Johnson Endowed Chair in the Humanities was established by this Greenwood couple as a testament to their commitment to fundamental elements of liberal arts education. Maurice Johnson, a Franklin College alumnus, honorary degree recipient and honorary trustee, forges a successful career both in public education and business. Mrs. Johnson, an associate alumna of Franklin College, affected the lives of many young people through a long and distinguished career as an English teacher. The Maurice and Rose Johnson Chair in the Humanities provides a unique opportunity to expand the education of Humanities students at Franklin College and to promote the educational values embraced and advanced by the Johnsons.
