Scholarship Details

Dietz/McDowell Fund (Cliff and Paula Dietz American Baptist Endowment Fund)

SCHOLARSHIP BACKGROUND

Drs. Clifford and Paula Dietz have forged a close relationship with Franklin College. However, there is another organization that they also hold dear to their hearts, the American Baptist Churches. Together with their daughter, Stephanie Dietz, the Dietzes established the Dietz/McDowell Fund to provide scholarships to American Baptist Church members who are interested in attending Franklin College. The Dietz/McDowell Fund is named in honor of the Dietzes' late grandson, John Peter McDowell, who died when he was 12. Drs. Cliff and Paula loved their grandson dearly and wished to establish the scholarship in his name so that, as they helped other students, they could keep his memory alive. It is the donors' hope that students receiving the scholarship will demonstrate an active commitment to their faith while pursuing their undergraduate education. The scholarship is well-matched with Franklin College, which maintains a voluntary affiliation with the American Baptist Churches, USA.

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

First preference for the Dietz/McDowell Fund scholarships will be given to students who are members of First Baptist Church of Franklin. Second preference will go to students who are members of any other American Baptist Church in Johnson County. The scholarship may be renewed if the student maintains a 3.0 GPA or higher. Recipients will be selected by the financial aid office.
