Orville and Freda Wright Memorial Scholarship
Orville and Freda Wright were friends and fans of Franklin College. The couple's daughter, Doreen St. Clair, is a retired professor of physical education and coached several sports at the college. Their granddaughter, Jennifer St. Clair, graduated from Franklin and was a student athlete. Following their deaths, the family established the Orville and Freda Wright Memorial Scholarship.
Recipients of the Wright Scholarship must be education students preparing to complete their student teaching semester during the spring of the next academic year. They must have a GPA of 3.25 in their major. Students must apply for the award and the application must include a written recommendation from a faculty member in their major and a copy of the student's educational philosophy. The education department will select the top three applicants from those submitted. Those applications will be presented to the St. Clair family for review. The family will select a winner and inform the education department, who will submit the name to the vice president for academic affairs for final approval.
