Scholarship Details
Austin & Susan Flinn Endowed Scholarship
SCHOLARSHIP BACKGROUND
Austin Flinn attended Franklin College in the late 1800s, and his commitment to the institution was lifelong. He settled in Franklin and established the Flinn Funeral Home in the city. In 1907, he married Susan Richardson Flinn. Throughout Franklin, the two were known for their civic involvement and their compassion for others. Mrs. Flinn was a patroness of Delta Delta Delta sorority for many years, and both Mr. and Mrs. Flinn were active members of Tabernacle Christian Church. Their daughter, Betty Flinn Johnson, was a member of Franklin College's Class of 1941. She established this scholarship in honor of her parents, so that their names would be permanently identified with Franklin College.
SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS
Both Austin and Susan Flinn were lifelong residents of Johnson County. Because of that, graduates of Johnson County high schools will receive first preference when awarding the Austin and Susan Flinn Memorial Scholarship. The financial aid office will select the scholarship recipients.
