Fred R. and Evelyn H. Blanford Endowed Scholarship
SCHOLARSHIP BACKGROUND
The Blanford Endowed Scholarship is established through a charitable gift to Indiana high school graduates who are in financial need. Mr. Blanford graduated from Wiley High School in Terre Haute and Indiana University in 1939 with a degree in business. He became a Certified Public Accountant and worked for the Mayflower Transit Company for 36 years, retiring in 1980 as treasurer and vice president of the company. In 1952, Mr. Blanford married Evelyn Ruth Hess of East Hartford, Connecticut. They were active in the Indianapolis community and attended Broadway Methodist Church, where Evelyn served as a frequent soloist. After retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Blanford traveled extensively throughout the world, prior to his death in 2001. Upon the recommendation of trusted advisors, Charles and Mary Daugherty, Mrs. Blanford established this scholarship to help deserving Indiana high school graduates who exhibit financial need to attend Franklin College.
SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS
The recipient must be a full-time student at Franklin College and a graduate of an Indiana high school. First preference will be given to an independent student with proven financial need.
