George, Mary & Tom Vandivier Endowed Scholarship


SCHOLARSHIP BACKGROUND

There are many ways one can support Franklin College: making gifts, volunteering time, guiding the college by serving on the board of trustees, or simply speaking highly of the college in the community. The Vandivier family has supported Franklin College through all of these means and others. George and Mary Vandivier both graduated from Franklin College. Mr. Vandivier served on the college's board of trustees for several decades. His son, Tom Vandivier, followed him onto the board. Dr. Tom Vandivier also graduated from Franklin College. He was active on campus as a member of Phi Delta Theta, Blue Key, Alpha Society and the football and golf teams. He earned his medical degree at Johns Hopkins and was instrumental in developing the Diagnostic Clinic of Houston. He has served as a board member of the American College of Physicians.

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

The George, Mary and Tom Vandivier Endowed Scholarship will be given to an enrolling new student who has achieved at least a 2.5. grade point average in high school. Preference will be given to students from Johnson County high schools based on character and scholastic achievement. Recipients are chosen by the financial aid office.
