Scholarship Details
Harold W. & Mildred Tourtillott Richardson Endowed Scholarship
SCHOLARSHIP BACKGROUND
Dr. Harold W. Richardson served as president of Franklin College from 1949 to 1964. He and his wife, Dr. Mildred Richardson, remained involved in Franklin College throughout their lives and often served as ambassadors for the college. In addition to their love for Franklin College, the Drs. Richardson were supporters of the arts. Dinners in their home often featured performances by their daughters, all of whom are accomplished musicians. One of their daughters, Dr. Constance Richardson Van Valer, Class of 1959, is a current college trustee. Typical of these generous but modest philanthropists, the Harold W. and Mildred T. Richardson Endowed Scholarship was, for many years, given anonymously. Prior to their deaths, the couple allowed their names to be attached to the award.
SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS
The scholarship is available to all Franklin College students in good standing. The financial aid office selects the recipients.
