I. George Blake Endowed Scholarship

SCHOLARSHIP BACKGROUND

We often speak of the "Franklin College Family," that bond of friendship and familiarity that forms between students, faculty and staff. The I. George Blake Endowed Scholarship is a lasting testament to that family-like bond. For more than 40 years, Dr. George Blake was a dedicated member of the college's faculty. As a professor in the history department, he was an educator, a mentor and a friend to generations of Franklin students. To faculty and staff, he was more than a respected colleague, he was a member of the "Franklin College Family." Upon his death, donations in his honor poured into the College. A memorial scholarship in his name, first planned as a small fund which would be given a few times, grew to a fully endowed scholarship which, to this day, preserves the name and memory of a great educator.

The I. George Blake Endowed Scholarship is granted to deserving students majoring in history at Franklin College.
