The Rev. Dr. & Mrs. Willis Hubert Porter Endowed Scholarship

SCHOLARSHIP BACKGROUND

In May of 1963, Dr. David Lindsey Porter graduated from Franklin College. On the same day, his father, the Rev. Dr. Willis Hubert Porter, was given an honorary doctorate from the college. It was a day the Porter family treasures in their memories. That morning in May was the catalyst for the scholarship in the Porters' name. The Porters established the award in honor of their son and in appreciation of the college's then-President Harold W. Richardson and of faculty members I. George Blake, John F. Cady, Robert M. Murphy, Mary S. Owen and Robert C. Toole, whose instruction and guidance meant so much to the younger Mr. Porter during his studies at Franklin.

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

The Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Willis Hubert Porter Endowed Scholarship is available to full-time Franklin College students maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The financial aid office selects recipients of the award.
