New Student Registration Checklist

This checklist will help you prepare for New Student Registration in April, May, or June. Additional information will be coming soon on the New Student Programs Web site to prepare you for Orientation and LA 100 in the fall.

Getting Started

Step 1: Have you completed the Candidate Reply Form and submitted your deposit? Yes No

Yes - Congratulations! Welcome to Franklin College!

No - Go to Pay Your Deposit for an electronic or printable Candidate Reply Form. If you have any questions, contact Admissions at (317) 738-8062 or toll free at (888) 852-6471.

Step 2: Have you received your Franklin College Username and Password? Yes No

Yes - Your FC Username and Password will provide you access to important FC resources including MyFC and Student E-mail. It is also important that you regularly check your FC e-mail account as important information regarding housing, registration, and orientation will be sent directly to your FC Student E-mail Account.

You will need to bring your FC Username and Password with you to your registration day.

Reminder! Passwords are case-sensitive. Three incorrect password attempts will cause your account to be locked for 30 minutes. Please e-mail service@franklincollege.edu or call IT Services at (317) 738-8148 for login or IT issues.

No - Once you complete your Candidate Reply Form and pay your deposit, your FC Username and Password will be mailed to your home address inside of your Franklin College Enrollment Guide.

Next Steps that Require Your Username and Password

Do you plan to live on campus? Yes No

Have you completed your Housing Application? Yes No

 

Yes - Please check your Student E-mail Account for confirmation that your housing application was received. If you have received a copy of your housing application, then your housing contract has been successfully submitted! Initial notification of your room and roommate assignments will be mailed beginning on or around June 1st.

No - Go to the Housing Application by logging into MyFC. The housing application is located on the right side of the Admitted Students page of MyFC under the Pre-Registration Forms.

Please remember that housing is assigned on a priority date basis. The sooner you submit your housing contract, the more likely your housing preferences will be honored.

No - Please review the Residency Policy. All full-time students are required to live on-campus in college residence halls or fraternity houses unless they satisfy one of the following:

  • Reside with parents, spouses, or legal guardian.
  • Have military veteran status.
  • Obtained medical release from both their family physician and the college physician.
  • Are senior year students with 91 or more credit hours.
  • Have appropriately petitioned and been granted permission by the Dean of Students.

Students who fail to qualify for one of these exceptions will be billed automatically at the current lowest room rate.

Have you returned all Financial Aid documents? Yes No

Yes - Thank you!  Be sure to submit your FAFSA and all other required documents. If you have any questions regarding your financial aid, contact the Office of Financial Aid at (317) 738-8075 or via e-mail at finaid@franklincollege.edu.

No - To finalize your financial aid package, it is important that you complete your Student Application for Scholarships, Financial Aid, and/or Tuition Remission.

Please submit all documentation requested by the Office of Financial Aid within 30 days of request. Failure to do so may result in loss of aid. In addition, please notify the office in writing of any outside scholarships, grants, or other types of student aid you have received or will receive.

Have you completed the following items at leas prior to your registration date? Failure to complete these items before the deadline may result in being moved to the next available registration date.

Math Placement Exam? Yes No

Yes - Great Job! You will be notified of your results and applicable placement at your scheduled registration date.

No - Go to the Math Placement Test by logging into MyFC. The placement test is located on the right side of the Admitted Students page of MyFC under Math Placement Test.

You will need to allow approximately one hour for completing the Math Placement Test and may want some scrap paper and a pencil for the test. Please read all directions carefully.

The entire test determines your placement into a math course at FC so please do your best on all sections provided. If your performance on the first half-hour of the test enables you to take a second section, please do so. The duration of the second section is also a half-hour.

Modern Language Placement Exam? Yes No

Yes - Please be sure your foreign language placement exam is submitted on the 1st of whichever registration you are attending. For example, if you are attending April 16th registration, you must submit your placement exam by April 1st.

No - The only exemptions to the foreign language placement exam are if you have never taken a foreign language in high school or college, or if you have taken a foreign language other than French, Spanish, or German. If you meet one of these exemptions, please call the Office of Academic Records at 317-738-8021 to receive further instruction.

Housing Application? Yes No

Yes - Please be sure your foreign language placement exam is submitted on the 1st of whichever registration you are attending. For example, if you are attending April 16th registration, you must submit your placement exam by April 1st.

No - If you plan to live with your parents and commute, please fill out the exemption to residency form. The only other student allowed to live off campus is the student who has achieved senior status with at least 91 credits, or students who are married, have children, or are in the military.

Course Preference Sheet? Yes No

Yes - Thank you! This form will assist the Academic Records Office and your registration advisor in helping you build your fall class schedule at New Student Registration in April or June.

No - Go to the Course Preference Form by logging into MyFC. The form is located on the right side of the Admitted Students page of MyFC under the Pre-Registration Forms.

Please complete each dropdown option with your preference. To better determine your interests, we encourage you to read provided course descriptions. You may submit a second form if your interests change prior to your registration day.

Have you read the FERPA (Student Rights) Policy? Yes No

Yes - Thank you! If you have any questions, please contact the Academic Records Office at at (317) 738-8019 or via e-mail at registrar@franklincollege.edu.

No - Please click here to read the FERPA (Student Rights) Policy. This policy informs you of your basic rights under the law. Please note that we will not release your non-directory information to a third party without your consent.

Have you completed the Publicity Information Sheet? Yes No

Yes - Thank you! Your future FC accomplishments can now be submitted to your hometown newspaper.

No - Go to the Publicity Information Sheet by logging into MyFC. The information sheet is located on the right side of the Admitted Students page of MyFC under the Pre-Registration Forms.

It is our policy to write press releases regarding our students' accomplishments (dean's list, athletics, etc.) and to send the releases to the students' hometown newspaper. In order to do this, we need your information.

Have you completed your Student Health and Immunization Record Form and submitted them to the Student Affairs Office? Yes No

Yes - Thank you! Now you can take advantage of our free health services with assurance that the Health Center staff is aware of important details when choosing a course of treatment.

Athletes: After May 1st, check the Athletic Training Web site for additional required documentation to be submitted to the Athletic Department.

No - Please click here to download and print the Student Health and Immunization Record Form. Completed forms should be submitted to the Student Affairs Office by August 1st. You may submit the forms during check-in on your registration day.

The Health Record Form should include childhood immunizations and shot records. In addition to required vaccines, it is highly recommended that college students be vaccinated for meningitis, the hepatitis B series, and varicella, if you have not had the chicken pox.

Athletes: After May 1st, check the Athletic Training Web site for additional required documentation to be submitted to the Athletic Department.
