Introduction

King Arthur and his kinghts sat at a round table to show the equality of all men.  There was no head of the table, so everyone could feel like an equal.  King Arthur and his knights lived by a code- a code of chivalry.  Chivalry is a set of rules that knights live by.  They were things such as, acting like a gentelman, never killing an enemy who was lesser armed than you, never killing an enemy while his back was turned, and treating women with respect.  What does modern chivalry mean to you?  This would not be mideval chivalry, but it would be any instance were you acted in an honorable fashon.  This could be, taking the trash out for you grandma, painting a fence, cleaning your room, not stealing, or bening respectable- just to name a few.

The Task

  • You will develop a modern code of chivalry.
  • Your code should consist of ten rules that you feel display what modern chivalry is to you.
  • Your code must be typed.
    • double spaced on white paper.
  • Spelling will not be counted against you.

The Process

  1. First you will need to go to this site,Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary,  which is an online dictionary, and then look up the word chivalry.
  2. Once you have read the defination of chivalry on line you need to look up Chivalry in the Worlds Book Encyclepida (located in the classroom).
  3. After you have read up on chivalry you need to write your ten rules of modern day chivalry on a piece of paper.
  4. After you have finished your rough draft, which you will not turn in, you are to type out your code of chivalry.
  5. Your code should be double spaced and printed on white paper.
  6. Once your assignment is completed you  need to turn it in to the instructor.

Most of all you as a student can now realize what it takes to have chivalry in todays society, and I ask you to try to live by your code.
