Introduction
After being read the book, "The Seasons of Arnold's Apple Tree" you
will create your own apple tree in each season: spring, summer, autumn and
winter. Be careful to draw each tree differently and keep in mind the
different characteristics of each tree throughout the seasons.
After coloring your apple tree
in each season, mix the four different seasons up (each on a seperate card)
and then sequence them according to their seasons.
The Task
- The children will
end up with four different cards that are pictures of an apple tree throughout
each season (cards should be placed in sequential order).
The
Process
- First you will be
read a book called, "The Season's of Arnold's Apple Tree."
- Once
you learn the season's of an apple tree, you will get a chance to make your
own.
- You will be given four different cards with a season name and
a blank tree (just the trunk) on each one.
- First you will be given the card labeled Spring.
- Color the tree according to what you learned in the book about
what the apple tree looks like in the spring.
- Next you will be given the card labeled Summer.
- Color the tree according to what you learned in the book about
what the apple tree looks like in the summer.
- Next you will be given the card labeled Autumn.
- Color the tree according to what you learned in the book about
what the apple tree looks like in autumn.
- Next you will be given the card labeled Winter.
- Color the tree (hint: or just the tree trunk) according to
what you learned in the book about what the apple tree looks like in winter.
- After you have completed each season card, mix them up and
put them in sequential order. Look at the differences on the trees themselves
to give yourself clues about their order of seasons.
Evaluation

how their performance will be evaluated. Specify whether there will
be a common grade for group work vs. individual grades.

Conclusion
By now you will have learned how to sequence
certain events based on the characteristics of the situation. Now let's
get our parents to help us learn more sequencing with different situations.
