In addition to the brotherhood they share, members of TKE hold leadership positions and are active in various campus activities. TKE aids men with mental, moral and social development for life. The TKE purpose is to contribute to the advancement of society through the personal growth of its members as well as through service to others.
The Franklin College TKE chapter has received nine Top Teke awards since receiving their charter here in 1988. Top Teke awards are given annually to the top four-six chapters nationwide. For the 2007-2008 school year members of TKE received Franklin College’s Living the Ritual and Greek Man of the Year, which are two of the most prestigious awards given to individual Greek men at Franklin College. TKE received Franklin College’s award for Philanthropy and Community service for the 2007-2008 school year which, during the Spring of 2007, TKE held its first ever Beauty and the Greek contest to raise money for Alzheimer's disease (TKE's national philanthropy). The men of TKE are looking forward to an even more successful Beauty and the Greek scheduled for this fall. Other philanthropy events include visits to the local Masonic Home to play bingo with the elderly 4-6 times a month and the annual Christmas party for the underprivileged families of Johnson County. TKE hosts a Red Carnation Ball formal every spring for its members and their guests.
All men must have a minimum 2.25 G.P.A. to be considered for membership. TKE looks to recruit new members with leadership qualities. TKE looks for sharp men who are willing to get involved to help the future of the fraternity, and grow immediate relationships with their peers. TKE's associate membership program is one that benefits all new members when they join. TKE's new members have all of the rights and privileges that any active member holds.
